THE KLEEFSTRA BROS BANDCAMP

We put the ep Sieleslyk on the Kleefstra Bros Bandcamp, the rare one-track 3" CDr that we did with Gareth Davis and which was published by Rural Colours in 2011. Check it out. Furthermore we're running short on some items, which is indicated with the number of copies we've got left. You can also get all available releases for a kinda discount price. A DOWNLOAD AND A VIDEO

In September 2011 the film 'Nacht en Dei' by Shinkan Tamaki was released, with music by Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra. The film was screened on the Australian International Experimental Film Festival 2012. The music of 'Nacht en Dei' is now available through the Kleefstra Bros Bandcamp.



On last April 19th we supported The Ex with Mere Duo/Kleefstra Bros. Part of the impro was filmed and it's on Vimeo. Apart from this little bit of news we can actually give away that we're working on a new album with a new formation. More later.

LIVE: MERE DUO-KLEEFSTRA BROS + THE EX

In 2011 the Kleefstra Bros released the ep Sieleslyk and the album Tongerswel with Gareth Davis. The trio played some gigs in England, The Netherlands and Poland. There's a concert here, a concert there and also a radio session. The three are going to hit the stage again on April 19th including Leo Fabriek on drums, supporting the best Dutch band ever: The Ex.

Gareth and Leo play together in Mere and perform frequently as the Mere Duo. They made a great record on Gizeh Records. Check the stream below. With the combination of the Mere Duo and the Kleefstra Bros the four play together for the first time ever. Curious what this impro quartet will bring... A jazzy, bit louder, gristly ambient jam, intense and dark? Who knows... Might be tasty!

In March 2011 Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra did a small tour through the Netherlands, accompanied by Bela Emerson. It also included a session for the VPRO radioprogram Dwars. This live recorded impro by the trio is now online. Check it out here.

ABOUT TONGERSWEL

This year's seen quite some of our releases. The European release of Piiptsjilling's Wurdskrieme in January, the Mort Aux Vaches featuring Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra in February, the Sieleslyk ep with Gareth Davis in April, the Seeljocht cd as part of a great artist in residence project in September, Deislieper of Kleefstra|Pruiksma|Kleefstra and Piiptsjilling's Molkedrippen coming up... And recently Tongerswel came out. All the lovely reactions we got on 'the other sound' of the album are good to hear and read. There are also some nice reviews so far, like on Fluid Radio, Resonant Strata and Ambientblog. If you are curious where to get the album, check the releases page. Tongerswel, the first album by Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra, is now officially out on Home Normal. OUT NOW: TONGERSWEL CD

Already announced for quite some time, but out now! Tongerswel, the first full length album by Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra, published by Home Normal. Tongerswel was recorded quite a while ago, when we first met as a trio in the Landscape Studio in the Netherlands. Two winter afternoons of recording, all improvisation. Six of these impro tracks ended up on Tongerswel. Sparse guitar sounds facing an almost dreamy bass clarinet, here and there spoken words. You can order Tongerswel through the Home Normal shop and through a lot of shops and distribution (check here). And off course [r] has got some copies too.

NOTICE THAT:

• The release of the album Tongerswel by Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra on Home Normal is set for August 11th!
• Kleefstra|Pruiksma|Kleefstra will kick off some special matters with a small show in a ship on the square of the former jail Blokhuispoort in the city of Leeuwarden (NL) on Augustus 19th. The special matters? More about that later.
• For the Seeljocht-project a very very very special limited release with three tracks by Piiptsjilling, Greg Haines plus friends and Heather Woods Broderick with Nils Frahm will be published by the Into The Great Wide Open Festival. So keep your eyes on the [r] for leftovers.
• Two more albums are to be expected this year, one by Piiptsjilling on Spekk Records and one by Kleefstra|Pruiksma|Kleefstra on Hibernate Recordings.
• We are even planning releases for next year! Including more Piiptsjilling and the second full length by 'the kings of darkness' Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra. Beware.
• You can book an evening with Celer, Machinefabriek and Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra!! This setting is available for The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany for the period of March 15-25 2012. Mail me.

DAVIS|KLEEFSTRA|KLEEFSTRA LIVE ON CONCERTZENDER

On March 18th Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra played at the venue Havenkwartier in the Dutch town of Deventer. This show will be broadcasted by the internet channel Concertzender on June 2nd, 20.00-21.00 o'clock (Mid European Time). It will be repeated on June 10th and 21st at 15.00-16.00 o'clock (also M.E.T.). Go here for listening and reading more about it (in Dutch). And on Vimeo you can watch a part of the gig. Beware.

The first release with multi percussionist Sytze Pruiksma will be a very nice album on Hibernate Recordings.

Seeljocht
Piiptsjilling will be the artist in residence during the Into The Great Wide Open festival on the Isle of Vlieland in the Dutch Wadden Sea. For this project, called 'Seeljocht', the band is bringing some friends along. A very fine project, including new music, video, a release containing cd and dvd, and off course Piiptsjilling and friends live on the finest stage of the festival on September 2nd-4th. More about Seeljocht later!

Anything else? Yes, off course. Recordings with Kleefstra|Bakker|Kleefstra for a Japanese film, other recordings with a small kinda big band in Berlin, something with a boat maybe and hopefully quite some gigs with Sytze Pruiksma here, there and everywhere. Stay tuned.

The 3" Sieleslyk by Davis|Kleefstra|Kleefstra is out on the subscription based hybrid netlabel Rural Colours. We recorded the material for this mini already in 2009.
