WHAT WAS (IN 2022) AND WILL BE (IN 2023)

2022 was a pretty good year for us musicwise. Since 2.5 years we finally released an album again. It was the IT DEEL I lp with Jacaszek. We're really proud of this one, full of instant composed tracks. We also did some great shows together of which the one on the Into The Great Wide Open on the Dutch Wadden Sea island of Vlieland will be unforgettable to us. It was a kind of Seeljocht déjà vu... In February 2023 we will do some final shows in Poland.

2022 was also the year of IT DEEL II with Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen of Streifenjunko. We recorded an album in the St. Thomas Church of Katlijk in the Netherlands and also did a sold out performance there. In spring 2023 the IT DEEL II lp will be released. Keep an eye on Moving Furniture Records for the release.

Then Piiptsjilling went on stage again at the Welcome To The Village Festival in the Netherlands and also resided in the St. Thomas Church for some recordings. We hope to finish these recordings in 2023 and have it all published.

There were more great things, like a nice interview in the Flamish/Dutch magazine Gonzo. Meanwhile Jan released a track with Norwegian instrumentalist Lasse Marhaug on the 100th release of Moving Furniture, while Romke made a track with Sylvain Chaveau on Sylvain's new album L'Effet Rebond. And there was one more FEAN-track released on the 100th release of Esc.Rec.

Besides the release of IT DEEL II, Transtilla's third album should finally be released on lp in 2023. Hopefully the sixth Piiptsjilling studio-album will also see the light of day. And there will be more. Romke recorded something for a new Machinefabriek album, Jan is working on a new book with visual artist Christiaan Kuitwaard called 'BOSWERK' and we will do IT DEEL III, early July, with...

Thanks to loads of people, that came to see our shows, that helped us realizing shows and projects! It means a lot and keeps us to carry on. So, February Poland and more after that!

NEW RELEASE: IT DEEL I, KLEEFSTRA BROS WITH JACASZEK

The first of four IT DEEL albums is out. It is our collaboration with Polish musician and composer Jacaszek. In the spring of 2021 we spent a week instant composing and recording, then pressed to vinyl and released by Moving Furniture. It’s a blend of hushed acoustic instrumentation, beautiful ambience and abstract poetry, themed around ecological degradation.

IT DEEL I IS OUT, RELEASE TOUR IN NL

IT DEEL I by Jacaszek and the Kleefstra Bros is out! It is the first vinyl release in an addition of four, as IT DEEL is a four year artist in residence project. The albums are released on Moving Furniture Records. The vinyl and digital editions are available on Bandcamp, go here!

We will also do a short release tour in the Netherlands. There are three dates where we play as a three piece (Deventer, Culemborg and Amsterdam). In Rotterdam Anne Bakker (violin) and Nina Hitz (cello) join us, just like on the Oranjewoud Festival and the Into The Great Wide Open Festival. Hope to see you there!

L'EFFET REBOND UP FOR PRE-ORDER

L'Effet Rebond is the new 2CD album by Sylvain Chaveau and Pierre-Yves Macé. Romke Kleefstra contributed to this album, by recording some guitar loops for Sylvain, after working together in the FEAN-project. The album will be released October 14 on Sub Rosa and is now up for pre-order on Sub Rosa's Bandcamp.

PRE-SALE IT DEEL I ALBUM HAS STARTED

Pre-sale for the IT DEEL I album has started on the Moving Furniture Bandcamp. Here's the album cover and you can already listen to three tracks on the Bandcamp page. It is a limited edition of only 300 lp's and it ships on or around September 30!

We will perform IT DEEL I with Jacaszek on the Into The Great Wide Open festival on September 3, on the Dutch Wadden Sea island of Vlieland. In October we'll do a little release-tour in the Netherlands.

KLEEFSTRA BROS & JACASZEK ON INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN

Last year the Kleefstra Bros worked together with the Polish composer and musician Jacaszek, during the first episode of IT DEEL. This fall IT DEEL I will hit the road, starting with the Into The Great Wide Open (ITGWO) festival on the Dutch Wadden Sea island of Vlieland. ITGWO takes place in the first weekend of September. The Kleefstra Bros and Jacaszek will perform on the Saturday in the church of the town of Vlieland. Also Anne Bakker (violin) and Nina Hitz (cello) join. The album of IT DEEL I will be published in October on Moving Furniture Records. Kleefstra Bros and Jacaszek will also do a short tour in the Netherlands later that month.

UNRELEASED FEAN-TRACK ON ESC.REC. COMPILATION

 

A new and so far unreleased track of FEAN is publiashed on Esc.rec.'s compilation Matter Affect. The track is called 'Oare tiden' and was recorded during the recording sessions that led up to both FEAN-albums.

Matter Affect is a copious compilation with work by all artists, performers and collaboration partners who have been confronted with COVID restrictions in the program of De Perifeer in recent years; shows that have been cancelled, moved (several times), took place in an adapted form or could not even be booked anymore.

All submitted material is collected in an A4 box in an edition of 250. Matter Affect consists of substantively different entries from almost every conceivable art discipline. The whole thing is accompanied by a contextual booklet; basically a concise overview of events. And t’s the 100th release on the Esc.rec. label. PIIPTSJILLING PLAYS WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE FESTIVAL

 
Piiptsjilling plays the Welcome To The Village Festival in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in July. The group was to do so already last year, but then the festival got cancelled due to Corona restrictions. Piiptsjilling plays on Sunday the 17th as part of the program 'Dronevlucht'. IT DEEL II LIVE

For the second edition of the project IT DEEL the Kleefstra Bros are doing a residency with Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen of Streifenjunko. In the first week of June the four get together in the small church of Katlijk in the north of the Netherlands, creating and recording new music. This Sunday the residency ends with a small public gig in the church. There might still be a few places left. Tickets are available through the Explore The North festival. The recordings will lead to an lp, to be released on Moving Furniture.

JAN KLEEFSTRA & LASSE MARHAUG - WOLK

'This is release MFR100' is a compilation of Moving Furniture Records. On this double cd various artists work together for just this one release. One of them is Jan Kleefstra and he was joined by the Norwegian artist Lasse Marhaug. IT DEEL II: KLEEFSTRA BROS & STREIFENJUNKO

For the second edition of the project IT DEEL the Kleefstra Bros hook up with Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen of Streifenjunko. Streifenjunko played their first concert all the way back in 2005, and has since then worked closely together to present truly unique and original compositions. Their work is focused, and the sound revolves around different experimental playing techniques, selected and fermented during years of music making. Streifenjunko released three albums so far, but Eivind and Espen perform together in other projects as well. The Kleefstra Bros and Streifenjunko actually go back quite a while, as they shared the stage in Rotterdam in 2008 when Piiptsjilling and Streifenjunko played Worm.

In the first week of June the Kleefstra Bros, Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen get together in the small church of Katlijk in the north of the Netherlands to create and record new music. On Sunday the 5th of June the quartet gives a public performance in the church. Tickets are available through the Explote The North festival. The recordings will most likely lead to an lp, to be released on Moving Furniture.

TRANSTILLA LIVE
